ABOUT VALERY

THE SHORT OF IT

Hi, I’m Valery! I’m a certified executive, leadership, and life coach. I coach driven top performers who want to make space for meaning and joy in their professional and personal lives.

AND THE LONG…

Prior to becoming a coach, I spent a decade as a lawyer and a practice group manager in two top global law firms. Most recently, I have held senior leadership roles as a subject matter expert on legal and regulatory developments in the private investment funds space. In these roles, I have mentored and coached associate attorneys, assigned workflow for 40 attorneys, and represented the group to other departments on firm-wide initiatives related to technology and women’s professional development. As an associate, my practice focused on private equity and venture capital fund formation and investments. I also maintained an active pro bono practice representing minority female entrepreneurs raising seed capital, a nonprofit microcredit lender in restructuring its operations, and women seeking temporary restraining orders.

I hold a J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School, where I was a Fellow of the Dennis J. Block Center for the Study of International Business Law, an Executive Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of International Law, and where I took part in the Jessup and Vis International Law Moot Court competitions. I also hold a B.A. in International Relations, cum laude, from Wellesley College. I completed my coaching certification at the Institute for Professional Excellence in coaching (iPEC).

Born and raised in Southern California, I have also lived outside Boston, in southern Spain, and in Paris, France. Now I choose to live near the water in Brooklyn Heights, New York.

I love systems, process, and organization as the foundation for free-flowing creativity. I geek out on metacognition, find restoration in the church of nature, and am wired for figuring things out. My hobbies include trying to perfect my dad’s red sauce recipe, puppysitting for friends, and anything in the tactile arts. I’m a no-longer-reluctant convert to hot yoga. I adore fiction with strong female characters, ‘90s alternative, and jammy red wines. Like any good Pisces, I’m most at home in the ocean.

I speak French, Spanish, and un po’ d’italiano

I look forward to getting to know you!
